For fat to be effective, it requires a balance. If you have too much fat, it slows the rest of the system down. If you have tons of fat, you’re dead. In order to keep fat under control, you have to manage the IO (input and output). You get to enjoy ice cream, but need then have to walk it off to keep the balance. Fasting fat is not good for you either. If you don’t have enough, your body will have to use other stuff and this is not cool. So all in all, we need fat, but not too much of it.

Fools for Christ, right? Or maybe just foolish. Maybe these two hour weekly sessions are dumbing down the gospel. Maybe the kingdom of God is about mysteries that need a life to discover and pass on to others.

Art Katz once said that the fear of man is not just being afraid of what others think of us, but being afraid of what WE THINK they think of us. The fault dear Brutus, is in ourselves.

It’s the root of our modern term vocation, but it has a sacred aspect to it, namely, that God has given us callings that will work out into our sacred expression in the world. This lines up with our missional sense of reconciling all things back to God in every area of life.
The main objectives of Vocatio are:

We recently had a YWAM national leaders meeting where we spoke about support. I recorded the session and want to invite you into the conversation. You may be in YWAM or supporting people in mission or the church. Have a listen and tell us what you think.
Also, there are a few pdf’s to download which may be useful for you as well.

He went from father to brother, from task oriented working man to relationship focused grandfather, from independent to needy dependent, all of which I missed because I assumed he was never going to change. Man, if communism can rise and fall in 70 years, don’t you think my dad could alter his world view just a little? Well, he did but I thought he never would.

Physical, emotional, relational… we identify with each other through the pain that we share, or at least, can relate to. It’s the ultimate cross cultural communicator. Think of a painful time in your life, how were you comforted? Was it by those who know all the answers, or by those who have suffered? The resulting fellowship of suffering creates a softening bond that can last forever.

This seems like such a crucial effort in understanding our tribe and our selves. In the last few courses I ran, we gave the students two free phone calls to their grandparents for the sole purpose of hearing their stories. To understand where we have come from.

There was a long list of requirements that the employer wanted to see fulfilled, a job description basically. Most people try to squeeze themselves into the description or the employers expectations. This is what I call living outside in.

You feel significant when you look at the stamps in your passport, but if you go back to the places you’ve been, they would call you a tourist. Like Erykah Badu says, “I ain’t got no buildings named after me.”
