Hailey (film maker and photographer)
& Andrew (graphic designer) Bartholomew
These guys are married (yeh, they're married!) and living in Brisbane. Hailey has just completed 18 short films for ABC TV there and another few independent projects. She is a photographer and artists and mother of two gorgeous little girls (Zali and Poppy). The really really cool thing is, the kids are an integral part of her creative process. She works with them, not just around them. In fact, the little (7 and 4) tikes have their own camera's to contribute with.
Andrew is an excellent graphic designer who works a few days a week for 'the (advertising) man' and the rest of the time at home working on family film projects. And when I say family, Hailey's mum runs a film festival in a city a couple hours out of Brisbane. I can never remember those Ozzy names though, something like 'Wongamondoolatropolis.'
They are also a part of a growing network of artists in their city. They camp together, hang out at the really great cafe's in the city and generally grow together. Like most people in the city, they don't seem to have enough time to get together as they like, but this totally nail this when it comes to family. I guess as marriage and kids emerge, this kind of challenge will arise; is family a hindrance to the creative process, or does it create depth and breadth inside of us, the kind that fuels a real story, real content?
